Concept

We have designed the new terminal as a great archway, a gateway to the country. A powerful and simple artistic form with the ends of the archway which representthe architectural forms of the surroundings. Whereas from the sea the archway is a symbol of welcome, from the land side a cantilever is produced which forms a public square that protects travellers during their travels. The building also constitutes a public square over the sea, a raised lookout which is aligned with urban structures, which is accessed by central stairs which are shared by travellers and citizens.

The different floors of the building are suspended from the roof structure, which creates a large open-plan space which can be remodelled for any future uses.
